We're delighted that you are planning a return to Grounds this spring. If you are traveling with children or grandchildren, please know that they are welcome at Reunion. When you arrive on Grounds and check in, you will find activities in the lobby to occupy them while you pick up your registration packet, catch up with friends or learn about new initiatives from various Darden departments. The Barbecue and Field Day on Saturday is planned with children in mind, offering moon bounces, face painting, crafts and room to play. Nursing moms in need of a quiet space should stop by our registration desk for assistance.
For your convenience, we are pleased to offer complimentary child care services for children older than 6 weeks and younger than 11 years on Friday (6:30 - 11 p.m.) and Saturday (4:30 - 11 p.m.) evenings. We have contracted with the U.Va. Child Development Center, a licensed and insured facility, located less than a mile from Grounds. The Center will offer dinner on both nights, age-appropriate activities and sleeping arrangements for young children. Parents do not need to bring pack-n-plays for their children. Any food or breast milk should be clearly labeled with the first and last name and the date, and may be stored in refrigerators on site. There are two buildings, so families will be assigned based on whether infant/toddler care is needed; we will keep older children with their younger siblings, though the infant/toddler center is better equipped for children under two.
Please indicate your need for child care when you submit your reunion registration online or by mail. Space is limited, so please register early. If you elect to use the complimentary child care you will be asked to complete necessary emergency contact information and health forms, as well as provide a recent photo of your child. Directions to the facilities will be provided before you arrive on Grounds. Please note that it is the center’s policy, and for the safety of the children, not to release children to parents whom they feel may be intoxicated.
If you prefer to secure private child care at your hotel room, you may consider using a babysitter from a list provided by the U.Va. School of Nursing or other local sources. To obtain the list, please contact Alumni Services at +1-434-243-8977.
